Advice for immigrants please!

Good day all! My husband received a job offer from Shepparton. We are currently in South Africa. I have a 13 year old son and would appreciate advise on any good schools in the area; technical schools if possible. I would also like to hear your reviews with regard to rentals and which area would you suggest is safe as we first want to rent and get the feel of the town. I must say, the majority of reviews has me worried as I didn't know that Shepparton had so many drug abusers and school fall outs. The crime rate also has me worried. Thank you all.
