The main park in Sherwood is the Sherwood Arboretum (or Sherwood Forest Park). Just over the hill from the main shopping area and rail station on Sherwood Road, the park has bbq and toilet facilities, playground, riverfront boardwalk and gorgeous walks over hectares of established garden. The Arboretum is a very popular place with locals for picnics, kids birthdays, exercising and just to unwind and relax.
The other big parkland area is on Strickland Terrace/Central Ave/Thomas St - bounded by Oxley Creek and generally known as the Strickland Terrace bikeway - there is a playground at the bottom of Central Avenue, and the walkway/bikeway is popular with families for riding after school and on weekends - the bikeway connects through to Bert St Clair oval and Simpsons playground (the ship park!) in Graceville
