Finding 10 things to do might be a little bit difficutl without cheating a little bit and wandering over to Portola or Bernal, but let's see if I can do this without that cheat:
Bars:
1.The Jazz Room (very run down and seedy--a real adventure)

Restaurants:
4. JJ Fish and Chicken (pretty good in divey sort of way)
5. Frisco Fried (soul food--the best thing on this list)
6. Pittman's BbQ
Chinese Food (I would not come here for these):

9. Tacos El (a taco stand--ick)
10. Old Skool Cafe: This cafe is a catering company (I'm not sure if the cafe actually opens regularly) that employs ex-cons and at risk kids to try to give them the training they need to change their lives. For those looking for something to do in Silver Lake sponsoring one of these kids would be a good thing indeed.
