All of the schools here rank well below average in test scores. If you go a little bit south into Hegewisch there is a great school there that ranks very high in testing: Grissom Elementary School. East of South Deering there is another great elementary school named Washington G Elementary School - it has very high test scores as well as great parental satisfaction.

Honestly, I haven't heard the best things. Most of the news is about fundraisers, so I think they're struggling to make ends meet. South Deering isn't very wealthy, so there just isn't a lot of money for good schools.

No Washington High School does not have very high score as most of the student are from the low performing East side as well as South Deering. In addition if there is great parental satisfaction in that area, shame on the parents.
