Reviews of Basin Pocket, QLD
"Underrated Ipswich Suburb"
Great suburb very close to the Ipswich CBD. Unlike the newer estates, the streets are wider and almost no through traffic.
Public transport is easy and regular if required.
I enjoy living in this little pocket of Ipswich.

"Best place I have ever lived"
Basin Pocket is a lovely quiet area of Ipswich, kind of hidden away from the inner city of Ipswich but so close to every shop and takeaway place you can think of. I have lived here since January 2011, moving from Brisbane, and it was the best decision getting away from the Brisbane congestion. McGill Street in Basin Pocket is one of the best streets, with mostly owner occupiers, who all maintain their properties. We have so many bus stops on and around our street with quick access to the train lines or a short walk if you'd prefer.
There are many pathways connecting you to various parks nearby and leading right into the heart of the Ipswich CBD, passing by the water park and rainforest walk in town. So many gorgeous cafes nearby and the best butcher is on Blackhall Street. Near there is also a small block of corner shops and a bowling green and sports club, among many others, a short courteous bus ride away. We have experienced a great range of beautiful birds and even king parrots and cockatoos from time to time. The parks nearby house a family of kookaburras and owls.
Basin Pocket is truly a great place and growing better every year; you will love being a part of the Pocket.

"Family friendly area"
I have been living in Basin Pocket over the last five years and I bought my first home here not knowing the suburb well(I only bought the house here coz the price was affordable). But as I live I met lovely neighbours and local shops and I just love everything in here. So handy to go to the shops, library, parks etc. Ppl often think Ipswich is rough area but some parts are definitely family friendly :)

"Quite area by the Bremer River"
I have lived in Basin Pocket for the last 5 years. I moved here because I could not afford to buy my first home in Brisbane. The homes are older but well built and have a yard. This was important to me as I have kids and they love to play outside. What attracted me to the area was it was only 2km to the ipswich cbd, 3km to the ipswich hospital and 3km to the river link shopping centre and a 15min walk to the east ipswich train stataion. It is really quite and has been a great place to raise my family. Lots of parks and close to key services. The prices are affordable too. There are small pockets which flooded in 2011 so check on the council site to see which sections were effected. However it was a small area affected.
Great for
- Close to public transport
- Close to shops and services
- Quite
Not great for
- Some sections will flood in extreme conditions.
