Reviews of Caloundra West, QLD
"Perfect place for a young family"
I have been living in BellVista estate for almost a year now and its such a great community. My 2 small children love it here, there is an abundance of walking tracks for them to scoot and ride. There are that many parks and nearby parklands, Little Mountain Common, and then probably 5 parks in our estate and then 10+ parks in neighbouring estates, there is a lot to explore!

"Excellent Family orientated suburb"
We live on the bell vista estate in a very quiet and safe location. It's very peaceful and we only hear the beautiful birds chirping. Fantastic neighbours so friendly and helpful but not intrussive. The serenity of surrounding bush path around the suburb offers blissful morning and afternoon walks , dogs walks, bike rides and even overlaps into the neighbouring suburb little mountain. Walking to the local shopping facilities you are always greeted with a smile and a hello when passing by.

"My favourite place."
We live in bellvista (Caloundra west) and we love it. We had lived in a lot of different places but Caloundra west is by far the best place we ever lived . We live near unity college and have much bigger blocks compare to the Aura estate and its very quiet ,leafy and safe. Our kids go to the Brainga state school and they love the school. Unity college is a great private school too. 10 mins drive to beautiful beaches, walking distance to the bellvista shopping centre. Perfect for the family.

There are pretty of fantastic parks in Aura estate https://www.stockland.com.au/residential/qld/aura/life-at-aura-2/parks-and-playgrounds and Caloundra west as well. We take kids to so many different parks in the area and love it.
"Ok for investment purposes"
Caloundra West is a horrible place to live. Bell Vista is still ok. Anything from Bells Reach, Arbour Park and up towards Baringa is horrible. Small plots. No privacy. Loud, rude neighbours. Kids making noises scateboarding, etc in the streets infront of your bedroom window at 5am on a Sunday morning. Dogs constantly barking. We have lived in 2 houses in Caloundra West over the last 3 years and can't wait to move! Never again!!

"Ok for young families"
When we moved in Caloundra West we were so happy that we are only a few minutes drive from beautiful beaches and that there is no visitors and tourists near our area. However, after having been living here for over 1 year we are looking to move this year elsewhere on Sunshine Coast because:
- young families around us are having parties, smoking/drinking, kids are constantly screaming and yelling in the backyards because their parents don`t take them to the local parks (which are right across the road), dogs bark constantly because no one walks them and poor animals are stuck in the backyard most of the time
- constant noises from aircrafts above the houses almost 24/7
- NO decent signal for Vodafone and making calls/talking on the phone is a nightmare
- small blocks allow no privacy
- overpriced rentals
- public transport stops literally near the houses!
- no decent park or wildlife where you can get away from the hustle and bustle of every day living
- too far from takeaway locations and decent supermarkets (only IGA is nearby)
I would not recommend this suburb to you unless you are a teenager or young family, it is not a peaceful area (our friends have been living there for 1 year too and said the same, they are looking to move at the end of the lease period).

Hi Tatiana, We r looking to buy in Baringa, Caloundra area. Can we maybe have a chat pls? It seems that you have something to share from your personal experience. Thx. Alex
please let me know if you have not bought a house yet, I am happy to answer your questions, Alex
Is it very noisy close to the aerodrome or everywhere? Its a big area. What part of Caloundra u referring to? What abt Baringa? Is it any better? Have you moved or still live there?
it does get noisy, lots of small aircrafts buzzing around on sunny days and they are quite loud... I live in Baringa, it is 5 mins drive from the aerodrome... Baringa is overpriced, blocks are small, neighbors are not too friendly (I guess because the area is relatively new?), and also I heard there were break-ins in Baringa (there is a website where the concrete spots are highlighted where the crimes occurred). Also, multiple people told me when I moved in, that cats are not safe to be left outside as there is someone who catches them for unknown reason (cats never were found once they have been gone). I find the area noisy, people are snobbish, not highly intelligent or well-mannered. I am still there but will be moving elsewhere at the end of the lease for the above reasons. That is only my subjective opinion. I hope it helps.
+1 barking dogs / screaming kids. Sure, buy them and have them, but take them out and care for them and consider your neighbours. Looking to move and wondering why we left Wynnum. The surf beaches are beautiful. I will miss them.
joshbergs, you are so right! we are looking to move to GC or Brisbane. I do find it super noisy and no sense of community. Poor dogs and kids spend most of their time in the tiny backyards... so sad...
GC? Good luck and multiply your concerns by 10 lol
Aircraft noise 24/7? Maybe your hearing your TV... there are only tiny Cessna planes that do fly around, but tbh I'm surprised at how quiet majority of them are, and they operate from 8-4 during the day only... Not 24!!!
Oh please are you joking with the planes. There is an airport nearby but light planes only and you barely notice it when they do fly over. I live on a 576sqm block. We love it here. Great community. If you dont like kids its probably not right for you. Of course there are some pockets with smaller blocks and some inconsiderate people but you cant choose your neighbours wherever you go. Weve made friends as have our kids and the best is yet to come. There are so many parks and outdoor spaces.
"Lovely quiet family neighbourhood"
I live in Bell Vista and it's a lovely, quiet, family friendly neighborhood. Great walking tracks/bike paths, lots of parks, easy walk to the local shops with a grocery store, tavern, hairdresser, Dr and chemist. My kids go to one of the 2 local daycare centres and love it. Everyone says hello when you pass them on the street, we know all of our neighbours by name, and it feels safe. Easy 10 min drive into Caloundra for the beach or cafes, and about 10 mins out to the highway to head to Brisbane, northern beaches, or the hinterland. Only drawback would be the relatively small block sizes. Overall a great family suburb.

Thats great to hear! we are moving from Tasmania to the area in the next few weeks and have a daughter just turned 14 she is very shy and i am hoping she will make friends in the area to help her with the move.
I have to disagree, people are not friendly rather rude... parks? there is one with for skate boards and that`s about it... - did I miss some?

There is not enough room to capture everything, 10 mins bike ride to Caloundra beaches, Sugar bag mountain bike trails, Unity College is great, BellVista meeting place with the lake is beautiful, you will never get tired of walking around. And I am amazed at how well maintained the grasslands, parks, etc are. Even in each street there are small vegetation basins to hold water when its very wet, even they are maintained. You can't pick your neighbours, but I know everyone around me and we all look out for each other. We regularly leave things open because its so safe. Love living here, highly recommended to young families.
