Reviews of Cringila, NSW
"Not that bad"
I lived here and never had a problem with my street/neighbours/community, however anyone I told that I lived in Cringila reacted like I lived in a sewer. It's a short drive to Warrawong shopping mall and a short trip into Wollongong with a bus service connecting to both. It also has a hidden nature reserve that was great for walking and picnics. The streets aren't very pram friendly which bothered me. From memory there is three Burek shops which is great if you eat that kind of food.
"Just a suburb wedged on a hillside with a low socio-economic background"
It's reasonably close to Wollongong CBD and some great beaches, however there's nothing on offer in Cringila itself. It has a great view of the steelworks if that's what you're after.
"Central Illawarra!"
Cringila is a little suburb located half way between north and south illawarra. Cringila boast many shops such as deli's, takeaway, general stores, burek shops (x3), butchery, newsagent, hairdresser, florist, pub, bottle shop, Maltese Club petrol station, mosque, chemist and doctors (x2). This area suits the older and younger target market. Everything is close by and within walking distance from other amentities such as transportation i.e. bus and train station. It's close by to all suburbs:
* 15mins - Shellharbour (Stockland, Beaches, Event Cinema, Restuarants, etc)
* 10mins - Dapto (Mall, markets)
* 5mins - High Schools, UOW (uni)
* 5mins - Figtree (Westfield/unanderra pools),
* 2mins - Warrawong (Westfield),
* 2mins - Port Kembla (beach),
* 5mins - Wollongong CBD (Crown St Mall, Beachs, Nightclubs)
* 80mins - Sydney.
Even though the suburb is an older suburb, many residents are choosing to stay and renovate and/or build new homes. Cringila also boasts a public school along with pre-school. Cringila also has its own community centre, soccer-cricket-softball-football fields, soccer (Lions) club.
Overall if your looking for an area that is central to everything (type "Cringila" in google maps and zoom out), cheaper to buy and with community spirit?... Cringila is the way to go!
