Enoggera, QLD 4051

Enoggera is one of those older style suburbs which has leafy parks and streets, elegantly renovated homes, it is a pleasure to see these suburbs still exist in the 21st century. It has no night life which I see as a huge positive as we have none of the associated issues with such venues. Trains and buses run frequently to/from the CBD which can be travelled in approximately 15 minutes by road.

I bought my home in Enoggera 2 years ago and was originally attracted to the area because of its proximity to the CBD and rail transport. I also love the mix of Queenslander and modern homes throughout. One of the suburbs best features is the adjoining parkland and bike tracks. Lined with huge gum trees and wildlife, this is a really nice place for afternoon walks and literally adjoins the Enoggera Avenues. Those working in the CBD will appreciate that the Alderley, Enoggera and Gaythorne railway stations are all within walking distance, depending on which part of Enoggera you live. I work at Aspley and this means I am always travelling against the traffic, which is great. I think the area will continue to be popular going forward and will really benefit from the Alderley Square development planned for the site across the road from the Alderley railway station. It will be good to have some coffee shops within walking distance. I love the area and am glad that I purchased there.

Enoggera is one of those suburbs that is often been overlooked as the poor cousin to suburbs that share its postcode - such as Alderley and Grange, with some parts overlooked by council in the priority stakes when it comes to street beautification and maintenance.

It has a range of home types, although generally not a large number of the highly sought after Queenslander.

However, don't be fooled – this is not a down and out suburb!

Enoggera has a great community feel, with a mix of "old timers" and families discovering the area because of the proximity to the CBD, and easy access to schools, shops, transport – all fairly well within walking distance.

Located just 6.5 kilometres from the CBD, well serviced by bus and train services, homes are generally on good sized blocks and there are numerous parks within the area. The Kedron Brook bike and walking paths are also within walking distance - this really is a hidden gem.

It is possible to buy a great home in Enoggera with all the bells and whistles for a great price, simply because at the moment it isn't as pretty as some suburbs!

Great public transport, close to shopping and cafes. The RSL is fabulous for all types of people and good for a cheap feed and a few drinks. It costs about $1 to join. Since I have moved I really miss Gaythorne. It has so much to offer and it's quiet. There are are hardly any late night parties and neighbourhood disturbances.

Walk to everything Brookside,Parks and Trains.

Gaythorne is one of those unique suburbs which is literally spit in two by city rail.

On one side you have the community housing and light industrial neighbourhood, which has potential and is slowly improving.

On the other side of the rail line (and samford road) is the quiet, leafy neighbourhood pocket which shares its border with the enoggera army barracks. The people are friendly, everything is walking distance, with some great little eats around the corner, a community gym and library, and just a short walk to the coffee shops and bakery on blackwood street or the shopping at brookside.

Combined with its excellent public transport via rail and bus, and a short direct car trip into the city (less than 15 minutes) as well as being well serviced by internet providers, choice of cable tv services and well priced brisbane city rates makes Gaythorne one of those true treasures which few people know about. I will add crime rates are low and the community watch program seems to work well. A very green and proud secret pocket of brisbane.
