"Gin Gin - Quaint town with a bit of history, good to stop and rest."
Gin Gin is 51 kms from Bundaberg and the area is known as Wild Scotsman Country in memory of QLD’s only real bushranger, James McPherson. Gin Gin is home to the Boolboonda Tunnel which at 193m is the longest unsupported railway tunnel in the Southern Hemisphere. Whilst in town stay at the Gin Gin Central Motel or the Wild Scotsman Motor Inn. Travelling 19 kms north, turn of the Bruce Highway and you will come to Lake Monduran which is the Source of the Bundaberg Irrigation Scheme. Lake Monduran has a capacity 1.6 times Sydney Harbour and is held back by the Fred Haigh Dam. This is a great place to go swimming, sailing fishing and have picnics and BBQ’s Home price in Gin Gin are relative to the income earning capacity and there are always bargain to be found.
