Reviews of Grafton, NSW
"A peaceful country town with plenty of fresh air!"
Grafton is a friendly country town that has a lovely historical feel. It was apparently one of the first cities on the north coast, and there are plenty of examples of lovely old homes and civic buildings. It is a sporty town with plenty of carnivals for kids and veterans, the famous racing carnival and bridge to bridge ski race to name a few.
There are beautiful beaches 40 minutes away eg Brooms Head, Yamba and Minnie Waters, and fantastic national parks such as Washpool and Yuragir about the same distance. There are plenty of gorgeous, secluded swimming holes in the rivers and creeks around too if you ask a local!
Its a safe place to bring up kids- they can ride their bikes everywhere, and are well catered for by the public and several private schools. I grew up there and went back to raise my kids there. Whilst I have moved on, one of them stayed and I still love visiting him there.
