Greenwich, NSW 2065

Not a good place for young people. Pretty unwalkable depending on what street your on the nearest stations are wollstonecraft and st leonards which are a bit of a trek. If you drive often or sit at home most of the time it's a decent spot.

We've lived in Greenwich for about a year and stumbled upon it quite fortuitously. It's so much better than I could've imagined. We had been looking at all the suburbs around it but since it is a secret gem we hadn't even considered it. The community spirit here is incredible. There's Greenwich Games every 4 years, a completely self organised Olympics style event where you pick a team and compete for them. Lots of dogs in Greenwich. Great schools!! The cutest IGA in the world where they remember you by name. Wonderful fresh fish BYO restaurant. Beautiful views of the harbour and city. Very green. The 'refinery' some people speak of is a refuelling station which is connected to a refinery further down the harbour at Clyde. It's not noisy despite there being ships there all the time. I think I've heard aships horn horn once which was quite charming actually. People come from all over to fish here. Incredibly close to the city via ferry, train station walking distance and quite central to Lane Cove shops (5mins), Crows Nest (5mins), Neutral Bay (10 mins), Chatswood (15mins). The hospital could not be closer and there's even a private hospital in Greenwich. Greenwich Baths is a cute harbour beach complete with sun loungers and a cafe. No bar or pub unfortunately but really you can just pop on a ferry to Circular Quay in 15mins so who cares! So beautiful that we are planning to never leave!!!

I have been living in Greenwich for 4 years. I don't want to move to anywhere else. The main reason is my renting property is about 40-50 metres away from the Pacific Highway. It is very quite but lots of bird singing day and night, which I don't mind. Many buses stopped at the TAFE including express buses. Two hospitals are within walking distance. Medical centres are within reach from St Leonards(12 mins walking), or Lane Cove ( 3-5 mins' drive), or Chatswood (8 mins' drive).

For shopping, I go to crows nest woolie, Lane Cove Woolie and Coles, Chatswood which has everything. Same as eating out, many choices in crows nest and Chatswood.


Attention: don't live near the water/ Greenwich Bay. Even tho the houses there are over 2.5 m and has a great view. It has an oil refinery. It smells bad.
Stay away from Pacific highway, it's very noisy.

We moved into Greenwich about 12 months ago and couldn't be happier - the local people are generous and friendly, the transport options are magnificent and it is so close and easy to get into the city... The suburb is so bushy and visitors are amazed by how green it is considering how close to the city. We think the value for money is one of the best for suburbs in Sydney....

We moved from the Eastern Suburbs to Greenwich. It has everything we wanted - views, parks, waterfront, sailing clubs, character, space and an inner city feel. There didn't seem to be many kids around at first but now the suburb is brimming with familys so the school ids a big focus point.

There is a Ferry from Greenwich Point that takes 2 minutes to Balmain and 10 to the city - so Saturday night dinner in Balmain (or the city) is very easy option. Crows Nest / Lane Cove - are 5 minutes drive to both have a lot to offer. The Shell Terminal - which is not a refinery - has ships come in most days and transfer oil from Greenwich via pipeline to the Silverwater refinery - this is part of the working harbour in action / and adds character - I drive past the site to get home but don't live close to it.

The local shops are very good - the IGA is worth checking out if you are looking at buying as so often you can avoid the big shops. Did I mention the Baths. What it could have cute little pub where locals could meet .... but for now we settle for a beer at sunset by the sea or even go to The Cockatoo Island Bar - 2 minutes by Ferry.

I lived in Greenwich for 7 years. I loved the area as is close to the city but doesnt have the same hussle and bussle as most places surrounding the city. Water views lovely parks and multi mullion dollar designer homes make the place very pretty, but it is small and only have a few shops. Pollution is a problem as the winds can pick up the smog from the city and bring it over. Even with frequent cleaning my car was allways dirty form this. It is very noisy for 3 reasons.1st and the biggest drawback about the area was the huge, stinky, noisy, oil refinery that would have huge noisy trucks and machinery going up and down the main road all the time and at all hours. 2 every one is making their allready big houses even bigger with constant renovations and extensions meaning tradies were everywhere all the time, waking me up most mornings with swearing etc while is was there this was constant. 3 the plane noise.

Green, really close to the city, a lovely little suburb that is hidden from the masses.
A nice little group of shops in the village and a couple km more and there is an abundance of shopping, restaurants, cafes and bars.
Tends to have an older demographic but that seems to be changing quite quickly as they downsize and cash in and check out.
A few good pre-schools, a public school and a good smattering of some of the best of Sydney's private schools within a few km's.
Express ferry runs infrequently but is only 15 mins to the city, buses and trains make commuting pretty straightforward however and the drive is about as easy as you can get on the north side - and if you work in North Sydney its so easy its not funny.
A lot of parks with playgrounds for the kids, its nice and dog friendly and there is Greenwich Baths for summer chilling
Basically this suburb is a Gem and is worth a double-take

We visited friends at this address and the views are stunning from the kitchen and bathroom windiws
There is a lovely little balcony at the rear with views overlloking the Hunters Hill area
As far as renovated bathroom and kitchen are concerned the kithen is quaint, tiny cupboards and narrow pantry and the bathroom suffers terribly from mould on the ceiling
The highlight of the evening was the cranky woman next door who decided to barge into the apartment to tell us we were too noisy.
There was little to no noise as our new baby was sleeping in her porta cot in our friends' bedroom

This suburb is so boutique, there is hardly ever any properties to buy! The biggest reason for this is the suburb is surrounding by waterfront and the value of properties has more than doubled in the last 10 years.
Walking distance to Wollstonecraft train station and ferry, Shell Park, Manns Point Park, Greendale Park, Gore Creek Reserve & Crows Nest shops - this area has so many pluses! A quick drive to the Pacific Hwy and you're only a few minutes from the City. Wherever you are in the suburb, you are either in a boutique street or one with water views. This is a suburb to watch!
