Reviews of Kurnell, NSW
"A thriving community only deterred by the oil refinery"
Good, close to shopping centres, beaches and a very much thriving local community. Green space is abundant.
It still contains storage tanks for fuel.
I thought the oil refinery closed down?
"Close to the city and the sea - but with a country twist"
I have lived in Kurnell for most of my life. I have recently bought my first home here and looking forward to starting a family of my own in the town where I grew up with my fiance.
For a young couple Kurnell could not be more perfect for us. The house prices are great bang for your buck. Where else can you buy a house, on a big block of land, a few minutes walk from the beach for under $500k??
I have spent time living in the built up areas of Cronulla, and while I appreciate the nightlife and convenience that the bigger places provide, the quiet living of Kurnell has won me over. It's a quaint little town that's alot sleepier than the suburbs that surround us. We are currently living in a cul-de-sac that regularly has kids in the street riding bikes and playing cricket.
There are plenty of things to do in Kurnell. We're always swimming at the beach, kitesurfing, bushwalking in the national park, surfing (about 10mins away at boat harbour), or take the dog for a run down at Bonna Point (the unofficial dog park that alot of people take their dogs to for a run around on the beach and in the large open park).
As far as nightlife goes, it has nothing. But we make up for it with plenty of regular bbq's and backyard cricket :)
All in all, it's a great place to live. After nearly 30 yrs in the area I still love it and believe it is still one of Sydneys best kept secrets.
