"Excellent Suburb"

I have been living in Mawson Lakes for nearly 10 years now. Rented for 7 years and now owns a house. Really love this suburb. I see that some people complain about the high crime rate and dirty streets, I think it is exaggerated. Sure there are some issues, but nothing significant. Mawson lakes have a population density of ~ 1700/km2, so a couple of car breaks once in a while is nothing unusual. Yes, the place is a bit crowded these days with several new apartments, but not a big issue. Public transport is excellent and you can survive without a car. Very multicultural society and plenty of shops. Ingle farm shopping centre, Parabanks shopping centre and Hollywood plaza all within 10min drive. Semaphore Beach is just 15min away. Beautiful lakes for an evening walk(two lakes). Mawson Lakes is close to Parafield Airport, so the first couple of months you may notice some noise, but after that, it may not be an issue - they fly tiny air crafts, not jet planes :)

"Planned community living, and unbeatable convenience"

Fantastic suburb that has just about everything one needs within walking distance, plus 15 to 20 minute drive to main amenities, the beach, shopping plazas and the city. We have chosen to settle down in Mawson Lakes and it will be difficult to leave given we are friends with all our neighbours on our street. There is a certain community feel that we doubt we will find anywhere else. We live a 5 to 10 minute walk from the primary school, Endeavour College, Technology Park, a childcare centre, UniSA, the Planetarium, train station, the creek, beach volleyball court, a variety of restaurants, cafes (plus more to come when the Crowne Plaza is complete) and two lakes. Name another suburb in Adelaide that will tick all these boxes!

Also for those complaining about planes:
"Local developments include the arrival of the E22 Spark, Australia’s first commercially produced electric aircraft, which is being integrated into flight training at Parafield through a partnership with Hartwig Air(Showcase SA). This electric aircraft has a flight time of up to 90 minutes, making it ideal for training activities(The Lead South Australia).

While the broader adoption of electric aircraft still faces challenges such as battery technology limitations, advancements are already underway to overcome these hurdles(Parafield Airport)" Translation: the planes will be close to silent in a few years.

"Paradise for renters"

Mawson Lakes is a vibrant and modern suburb located in the northern region of Adelaide, South Australia. It is a relatively new suburb that was established in the late 1990s, and since then, it has become a popular residential area for both families and young professionals.

One of the most appealing aspects of Mawson Lakes is its convenient location. It is only a 20-minute drive from the Adelaide CBD, and it is well-connected to public transport, with a train station and several bus routes servicing the area. This makes it easy for residents to commute to work or explore the city.

The suburb also boasts a range of amenities and facilities that cater to the needs of its residents. There are several shopping centers, supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, and parks located within the area, providing plenty of opportunities for recreation and entertainment. Additionally, the suburb is home to several schools and educational institutions, making it an ideal location for families with children.

One of the standout features of Mawson Lakes is its beautiful lake, which is located at the heart of the suburb. The lake is surrounded by walking and cycling paths, and it provides a serene and picturesque backdrop for residents to enjoy. There are also several community events and festivals held at the lake throughout the year, creating a strong sense of community spirit in the suburb.

Overall, Mawson Lakes is a highly desirable suburb that offers a great quality of life for its residents. Its convenient location, range of amenities, and beautiful surroundings make it a fantastic place to live, work, and play.

"Sorry, not for me..."

Mawson Lakes is a newly developed area 15-20 mins north of the city. Despite it being close to shops, doctors, schools and other amenities of the like, the area has a high crime rate and many rentals. Just check crime stats for the area, Mawson Lakes has some of the highest rates of car theft in Adelaide if you compare it with pretty much most other suburbs. Every suburb, residents park their cars on the streets so this shouldn't be used as an excuse to dissolve from the issue at hand.

"Village Mode In The Midst Of Urban Mess"

I recently relocated from New York.

Mawson Lakes/Salisbury area reminded me of Howard Beach, Queens in NY. ML is a diverse housing estate for families, young professionals and university students.

Main Street is a go to place for groceries, eateries, and all your health care needs. When you are ready for the urban mess, ML is a short commute away from Salisbury and the city.

ML is a paradise full walking trails- further afield, Cobbler Creek is a fantastic nature reserve.

"Was lovely at the start"

The original part of Mawson Lakes around the lakes (from 20+ years ago) was lovely, and had a west lakes vibe As were some of the back street houses not far from the lake. However, in more recent years, as they have expanded Mawson Lakes, they have permitted shoe box style dwellings which look disgusting in my opinion and box houses. As for people complaining about planes. What must one expect when you move next to the busiest airport in Australia.

Very South Australiancentric comment. The whole world does not live in big houses on big blocks. A mix of dwelling types is a reasonable thing.
