Reviews of Selby, VIC
"Green, peaceful and space"
My husband and I have lived in Selby for more than 20 years. It has a country like atmosphere with conveniences relatively close by. It's great to come home to Selby with fresh air and peace and quiet after being in hustle and bustle of the suburbs. Some of the best things about living in Selby are the local parks, meeting neighbours while walking dogs, neighbours close by check up on each if disasters occur such as trees down, local primary school is said to be good, it's peaceful and quiet most of the time and shops, cafes, hospital, medical centres are within 5-20 minutes (by car). Public transport is ok but not so frequent after peak times. Some disadvantages to living in Selby are barking dogs (not unique to Selby) but some people allow their dogs to bark while others are trying to sleep *in my location, sometimes there are loud parties that go well past 1 am, it's cold and damp and mould is a common issue. We find it difficult to grow food due to lack of consistent sun from the large canopy of trees. If you are looking for peace, quiet and nature it's a great place to live. If you have respiratory issues, arthritis and don't do well in cold, damp weather it's not ideal. Falling trees and branches are also very common.
