Sumner, QLD 4074

I have owned & lived in Sumner for 7 years now. Sumner is a hidden pocket of only 9 streets of a quiet culdesac estate that not many people know about it. People only enter Sumner to be in Sumner, there are not any through roads to lead elsewhere so it's quiet and peaceful, traffic is non-existent, while also being close to many amenities. Majority of the houses were built in the mid to late 90s, lowest brick & tile homes, well maintained, on larger than average blocks. Some people are not drawn to Sumner because of the overhead power lines BUT this does also mean that we are surrounded by vast greenery here which won't be built on, and the council are very reliable at maintaining. This creates an outback feel. If you are lucky enough to secure a block overlooking the forest, you will have great breezes all year round and kangaroos at your back fence in the mornings and evenings. Yes, kangaroos at your backyard only 15mins from the city.
With the recent western freeway upgrades it only takes 15mins to get to Indooroopilly Shopping Town or 25mins to the city. The closest train stations are Darra + Wacol but Wacol is often favoured as Sumners Rd (at the Spine St) intersection can get busy in the morning with trucks. Driving to wacol station takes 7mins in the morning and there is plenty of parking there, be mindful of kangaroos on this route. Belonging to centenary suburbs, Sumner property values appear to increase in line with the rest of Centenary (Jindalee, Mt Ommaney, Riverhills, Westlake etc). Centenary overall offers childcare, primary & high schooling, as well as a special school in jindalee. Sumner is in the Middle Park school catchment. Shopping is best done at Mt Ommaney (3 min drive) and not far from Jindalee DFO & Homemaker Centres (5 min drive). 15km to the city, in the western suburbs Sumner is good value for money. An average house here costs about the same as an average unit in Mt Ommaney or Jindalee more often than not. Sumner is in the Middle Park school catchment. The bus stop outside Sumners entrance is a loop run going to Mt Ommaney Shopping Centre + Local Train but does not go to town. The area is family focused and has a great sense of community. Neighbours know each other and look out for each other here. The sense of community and safety is a huge bonus.
