"Best suburbin Adelaide but getting expensivepensive"

Lived here last 35 years. Easily the best suburb around Adelaide but is getting too expensive because of all the new construction activity and insane rentals. Still prefer the old life

"Getting modern !"

What used to be a rather average suburb is now turning into a more modern and fancier place to live in. This will be a top expensive area in the next 3-5 years due to the stunning location on the peninsula

"Getting Better and Better"

We bought a block 2 streets back from the beach and built a home here 2 years ago. Love being here with the seaside living and changes occurring such as new homes, revamped pubs and upcoming naval projects as well as the Fort Largs Academy development. Glad we got in when we did.

"Lovely spot"

Very affordable seaside suburb. Close to most amenities and the beach. Roy Marten reserve upgrade is one of the best things to happen and the kids love it. Also can catch a nice game of footy on the oval over weekends, cant complain just love the place.

"Overall a great location"

Great location, seeing a lot of real estate activity in the last 3 years. My home value has doubled and still so much potential for more growth! Love it.

"Prime investment zone"

Ripe for investment. With the large development at the Fort Largs police academy site approved prices seem set for a sharp increase in the next 2 years. Wish there were some new shops restaurant s etc as well

"Set to be FASTEST GROWTH suburb in SA!"

It doesn't take a psychic to predict this suburbs future. Cheapest suburb currently on the LeFevre Peninsula! As you drive past you will realize a lot of old homes are giving way to brand new developments. With the Osborne Naval shipyard still a while to peak when there will be 15000+ jobs generated and tonnes of cash to be spent on Maritime investments this suburb has enormous potential. With the government recently announcing a record Defense budget for the next 10 years do not be surprised if it adds additional infrastructure and jobs in this area. The best part is that there is still affordable real estate currently available here. It is a no brainer what the prospects hold for Taperoo where the median house price is a mimumum $100ks lower than adjoining suburbs of Largs North, Port Adelaide, Osborne, North Haven.. Over the years I have seen improvements in the suburb overall with more people moving into the peninsula. Being so close to the bay with dolphins aplenty this is certain to see some sharp real estate spike. LATEST NEWS- Fort Largs Academy has been purchased by private developer where there will be many quality homes in a sought after precinct bang next to the beach. Plus a lot of plans to add retail shops, pubs, hotels etc to cater the influx of workers into the peninsula. It is 2020 now, when you see this post in 2025 you will perhaps repent why you did not invest here:)

"Hidden Gem"

A lil gem on the Lefevre peninsula, with a fantastic beach on one side and Port river (and Marina) on the other! doesn't get much better than that!
With the Osborne ship/submarine building precinct charging ahead in preparation for ship and submarine builds, there is much investment starting in the area. Houses are currently relatively affordable for beach/river side property... but get in quick..

"A terrible suburb"

Taperoo and Smithfield are sister suburbs. High crime, housing trust, unemployment. Needs a huge makeover before you want to live in this area. NOT for families.

"Quiet friendly suburb close to everything including the beach!"

A great atmosphere with views of the esplanade pines, friendly residents, short walk to the beach, renown 'snakepit' excercise facility, public transport, schools, great reserves and parks with exciting developments underway. West of military road is the place to be, with huge investment potential, and one of the last suburbs of Adelaide where you can get a nice large beach side home for well under $1 million. Homes on the North side of Wandana Terrace (Duntroon cr, Gedville tce etc) are well protected from the winds of the S/SE due to a rise in the land formation to the South of Wandana Terrace. The esplanade pines also absorb much of the winds energy. In summer the beach is amazing with warm lagoons forming in front of the wide white sandy beach. Whilst it may appear quite some distance from the rest of Adelaide it is well positioned to make use of the recent expressway completions (Port River, South Rd extension etc) for 20min run to City, 5 min into Semaphore, and 35min to the Barossa!

Great for

  • Affordable
  • Beach
  • Peace and quiet
  • Peaceful

Not great for

  • Nightlife is restricted however there are nice cafes in North Haven and Semaphore which aren't far away

Absolutely delusional, I suggest you take a drive around the area. Taperoo is full of disfunctional unemployed people and I'll leave out race because these days we can't call a spade..... A Spade. High crime. For this to be a decent area they need to knock down all the housing trust and move all the scumbags out.

kareenac

realityb your quite the contributor on so many suburbs in Adelaide! - as such an expert I presume you have lived in them all for a reasonable period of time... and all in the last 5 years?? Lets not over generalise, all suburbs are bigger then just a couple houses or 1 x street!!

simonu

RealityB is a troll by the looks on most suburb threads
