"Moving on up"
Lived on the east side near Mirrabooka Shops for 6 years now. Local shopping centres Mirrabooka and Stirling Central have been done up. Bus terminal at Mirrabooka shops has improved transport considerably, never had any issues with neighbours or the area. City of Stirling maintain the park across the road to a descent standard although some reticulation would improve it a lot in summer. Dont know about the local schools but the new dwellings that have gone up over the last few years and started to change to run down feel of the old neighbourhood. Lots of sports, ovals and ovals nearby and not far from the city and beach, I wont be moving.

"on the up but needs work"
PROS:
Many new houses and apartments have gone up giving it a bit more aesthetic appeal.
It's the quietest suburb and definitely the nicest of surrounding mirrabooka, nollamara and balga.
It's super affordable and very conveniently located.
Loads of shops, schools and services nearby - and reasonably easy access to beach/city (15min drives each).
CONS:
Terribly serviced by public transport.
Doesn't have great parks, a few small ones but not very appealing. Nollamara and Balga provide this close by however.
Northlands is a bit rundown. Although Stirling Central has been renovated and Mirrabooka development is underway.
Needs an injection of life - it's very much the burbs.
Neighbouring suburbs have a bad name.

I've lived here almost 10 years. I genuinely love living here, it's perfect for me. All the shops are being revamped along with the Mirrabooka developments so it's continually improving. Not sure what your problem was Natasha but hopefully you've moved on somewhere more suitable for you. Peppermint Grove perhaps?

"Westminster was known as fancy Balga - It's getting better!"
There's a joke about Westminster being 'fancy Balga' as Balga was rezoned in 1994.
Westminster / Balga were notorious for crime, but I have seen it change a lot in the last few years, there's a lot more first owner owners, more young families and a lot of housing development.
Even though there are parks near by it's not somewhere I would frequent due to the sketchy characters. Mirrabooka avenue and Ravenswood drive is a bit of traffic hazard with spending and drink driving. My family have lived there for over 30 years and have been broken into a few times over the years but nothing recently.
The area is very affordable and accessible and has great shopping including an Aldi. The infrastructure is good and Mirrabooka shopping centre has medical centres, a library. There's plenty of food options, an ice skating rink and community halls.

"Absolutley perfect"
Westminster is a place where access to everything is here... We are 15minutes from the beach, 20 from the CBD, With shopping centres such as Centro galleria, Whitfords, Joondalup less then 20minutes drive and smaller centres such as Mirrabooka Square, Stirling central and Northlands plaza just minutes (walk or drive) away. With IGA,Primary schools and public transport (buses) this place is ideal for families and students

You're living in a dram world or you're a real estate agent trying to make it sound better than it is . People don't move here unless you're willing to live next door to drug dealers and shady characters !!
"Bargain central"
I bought a unit in Westminster nearly 3 years ago now, and wouldn't change a thing. What I love about the area is the community, people are friendly, you have Stirling Central shops which has everything you need from groceries to apparel. We are 10km's from the city and also close to the beach. Unfortunately Westminster still has a reputation of being bogan central, but what I've noticed is that people are friendly, welcoming and easy going. Development in Westminster is growing fast with people that have lived here for decades cashing in on their property investment and redeveloping their blocks, especially around Arkana Road. There are big blocks in Westminster, there a great parks where I can take my dog for walks and there's a Fitness First gym and the Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre in Balga just around the corner.. Everything I need is right here. If I redeveloped my block, I would move into one of the units. I think it's a great area.
Great for
- Centrally located and very affordable
- Amenities galore

Not great for
- Ugly Northlands Shopping complex that needs redevelopment
- Stirling Council could improve with the aesthetics of the area
- An unfortunate reputation
