Convenience of Summer Hill (other side of train line)
Hi I am looking to rent an apartment in Gower Street. We are a late 20s couple. What are peoples' views on the Gower Street/Sloane Street side of Summer Hill? It doesn't have the facilities of the main shopping strip but does crossing the train line cause people any issue for say, grocery shopping/going out for dinner/safety? Or is that side of the station frowned upon?

It's perfectly fine for a late 20s couple - it's leafy and there are some nice houses. And it's not too far to walk to the amenities on the other side of the train line. If you plan to have kids, consider that it doesn't have the parks / playgrounds / cafes of the south side, and also you are a bit hemmed in by major roads like Parramatta Road and Liverpool Road (and the M4 tunnel exit) which brings noise and pollution issues. But you are only renting - you can always move when you get to that stage.
