When Surrey Hills was established in 1890 the council planted pin oaks and plane trees along each and every street. Sadly many have disappeared ( Boroondara Council leave our ancient trees alone!), but sometimes you find whole streets with them still intact. They now are very tall and provide shade and homes for parrots, possums and other beautiful creatures
