why are properties so cheap in Thornside?

Thorneside, QLD 4158 is located within the Redland local government area, part of the Brisbane Region in Queensland.

It is by the ocean and has great railway link to Brisbane CBD, so shouldn't it be on the up?
I am looking to buy in Brisbane and feel THIS should be a safe bet?

Thornside has a bit of a drug/ gang issue...as does Redland Bay
And it's in Redland Bay, so bout Brisbane city council.
That council's has a very uneven distribution of funds... just sitting for them to go the way of Ipwich and Logan council..
