Excellent question Luke. Of course the rates you pay are dependent upon the property you have. A unit owner will pay a lot less in rates than a house owner, and a house owner on a 405sqm block will pay less than a house owner on an 809sqm block. The rates on a unit are pretty standard at between $250-280 per quarter. The rates on a 405sqm block house will be around $500-600 per quarter, and the rates on a larger block will be around $500-700 per quarter. (House rates will vary a lot depending upon property "site value", which takes into account the desirability of the location. A larger block further out may even have a cheaper rates bill than a smaller block closer in.)
(There are very few blocks left in Toowong of more than 809sqm in size, except along the line of the creek in western Toowong, where each block includes some of the overland flow path.)
