How good is Toowoomba for a young couple and public transportation?

My husband hopes to do a Master degree (Mechanical Eng.) at the USQ Toowoomba. Read few comments about bad transportation and is it true? Because we won't be ablecto buy our own vehicle for a sometime. Will Toowoomba be a suitable city for a young couple? & I'm an ESL teacher & will I be able to find a job in Toowoomba? Hope some guidance. Thank you

No public transport except buses, they suck though have had people take 55 minutes to get to a school 10 minutes away. The bus maps are also very confusing. Just don't come to toowoomba really. Quite a high crime rate, one of the highest car jacking hot spots in Queensland and Australia, huge drug problems in the public and even at schools, all schools have high unattendance rates and high suspensions. After being too a few schools in toowoomba there has been many drugs and fights, expulsions and suspensions every week. The public aren't the nicest especially to new people plus the drivers are terrible. According to some car insurgencies we have the most car crashes in Queensland. Walked out at night with friends and seen people being bashed robbed and sometimes even stabbed. Have had cars follow me around town, had people stalk me when walking home at night and seen many drugs and needles around the grounds. All of toowoomba is bad, don't be fooled by the good houses like in middle ridge, east toowoomba and rangeville. It is one of the cheapest places in Australia which makes it real dodgy.

Hi hz, Thank you very much for your response. Do you live in toowoomba ? Are you a citizen from an other country ? Anyway, we'll think again n again regarding our move. Your comment was really helpful. TIA
