Looking for a home in Tullamarine?

"Close to things but Not sure about living"

I have not lived here but stayed overnight. The vibe wasn't very pleasant at night. Run down shops and restaurants in some spots and teenagers at the service station late at night.

"Busy little suburb that is close to everything."

Good: Tullamarine is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, a 17 km drive north-west of Melbourne's central business district and 14km from the CBD in a direct path. A 20 Min (25-35 Mins in peak hour traffic) drive to the CBD and 5 Min drive to the Airport, it has quick and easy access onto Tullamarine Fwy, Calder Fwy and Western Ring Rd which will link you with quick access to the CBD and greater Melbourne region. It is the home of the Essendon Football Club (AFL) and Asahi Lifestyle Beverages (formerly Schweppes Australia), has Melbourne's only surf park (URBNSURF) which occasionally also runs festivals, a large shopping center (Westfield Airport West), smaller shopping center (Gladstone Park Shopping Centre) and many other shops, cafes and restaurants only a few minutes away. You are a 5 mins drive from LaManna Supermarket (Essendon Fields) and not much further to Essendon DFO and the great selection of cafes and restaurants in Niddrie(Keilor Road), Essendon, Moonee Ponds and surrounding areas. Closest major shopping center is Highpoint which is the 6th largest in Australia and about 15 mins away.

Bad: Tullamarine is next door to the Melbourne Airport but it is not in line with the flight paths of the airport so noise pollution from aircraft is relatively low but still present. Tullamarine also has lots of through traffic heading to the Airport and down Mickleham road to go towards the new estates around Mickleham, Greenvale, Attwood and etc. Tullamarine used to be reasonably priced and great for first home buyers but first home buyers are being priced out of this suburb as it is getting quite expensive to buy here now.

Future: Melbourne Airport will continue to expand and will soon have an Airport rail link which will allow people to take trains into and out of Tullamarine. The 59 Tram that stops at Airport West will also be extended down Melrose Drive to Mickleham Road which will allow Tullamarine residents to take the tram line to Westfield or even all the way into the city if they'd like and people from outside of Tullamarine could take the tram down to Tullamarine/URBNSURF/etc. There is also a possibility of a new AFL stadium being built in Tullamarine, theme parks and a few other exciting projects in the coming years.

Tullamarine is on a trajectory of massive expansion, I see it as a great place to invest in or live in if you like living amongst it all. If you prefer something quiet and secluded, not sure if Tullamarine would be the right place for you.

What about the plane noise?

hi edelem.
Would you please tell more about this suburb? Thanks very much.

I mention plane noise in my review, it is present but it's not bad. I think the noise from the traffic on the main roads in Tullamarine is worse than the airplane noise.

"A terrific family friendly place to call home!"

Located approximately 17 kms from the CBD via the Tullamarine freeway, Gladstone Park is a great place to live.

Originally developed by Costain Developments in the early 1970's with AV Jennings being the builder of choice for most people at the time, the area was a hugely popular suburb for people working at Melbourne Airport and first home buyers.

Forty odd years later not a lot has changed with Gladstone Park today still very popular with first home buyers. It's close proximity to the city, great freeway access, Gladstone Park Shopping Centre, 4 schools; Gladstone Park Primary, Gladstone Views Primary, Good Shephard Catholic Primary and Gladstone Park Secondary College. There is also a bus service that runs through Carrick Drive, South Circular Road and North Circular Road. The bus commutes to the tram in Airport West and Broadmeadows train station.

There are sporting ovals and parklands for children to run free at Jack Ginifer Reserve in Carrick Drive and Gladstone Park Reserve in South Circular Road opposite Rylandes Drive.

In addition to the Gladstone Park Shopping Centre, Westfield Shopping Town in Airport West and Broadmeadows Shopping Centre are just a short bus ride away.

There is a Senior Citizens Club in Carrick Drive near the Uniting Church and Bowls club and we have the new Good Sheppard Cathedral in South Circular Road.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a first home buyer or a family, I'm sure you will agree once you check the area out, you too will agree that Gladstone Park is a great place to call home!

Rentals in Tullamarine

"Best this side of town!"

Where else could you be so close to so many shopping centres such as Gladstone Park Shopping Centre and Airport West. Broadmeadows and Highpoint are also not that far away. Do you want to get away? Only a few mins drive has you on the Tulla to the city and beyond, on the Western Ring Road towards Greensborough or Geelong and you are so close to the Airport, without the noise! There are plenty of school in the area, and lots of parks. Bus lines do service the area, but thats about it and there are not many restaurants to eat out at. You can park-drive to the tram and cafes in Essendon are not far away. There are quite a few little medical centres and you have hospitals in Broadmeadows, Epping and of course RMH and the Children's with direct access on the Tulla. MFB, Ambos and Police are local operating out of Tullamarine and Broadmeadows. Traffic is light and the neighborhood is friendly and only getting better. Get in now before it is too expensive and you can't!!
