Safe in Albert Street Unanderra?

Is Albert Street in Unanderra safe? My partner and I have just been approached for a rental property in Albert Street. We have heard some really negative comments from someone who lives on the street who says our neighbours are "druggos" and "squatters". I am a bit paranoid and my partner worries about our safety if one of us is home alone. We have expensive furniture etc and good cars. Should we be worried and not accept the house? We are 22 and 23 respectively. We need some local advice! Thanks!
