Moruya

"Unique People"

I love this place. Its the only place I have ever been to where you can meet people with three heads. Apparently Moruya is where the Addams Family come for their holidays.

On a positive note, Alfresco coffee shop is one of the best on the coast. Nice river views, especially at sunset. Excellent swimming pool next to the river, my kids love it here. The Air Raid is a great pub too. The Saturday morning market is a must

"Beautiful Scenery"

Suh a great beach here, love walking around Broulee Island. The kids had some surf lessons here at the beach and loved it. Microbrewery has opened too, along with a great coffee shop in town.

"Stunning beach"

One of the nicest beaches on the south coast, a 15 min drive from the bay. Nice lake adjacent to the beach also, great for kayaking. Heaps of kangaroos in the area too. Lovely forest

"Mogo is a poor mans Bodalla"

Tacky little place. If you put your foot down you can drive through it in approx. 90 seconds, quicker if there is no traffic

Batemans Bay

"Nice beaches - but a very strange place"

On one hand, Batemans Bay is stunning. It has some of the most beautiful coastline and beaches on the East Coast. Even driving into the bay over the new bridge, the view is picture postcard stuff.

But living here. Its a strange mix of bogans and Canberra retirees who move to the coast to die (sorry but its a fact). The place doesn't have any real sense of identity or community.

We moved here from Sydney, and no matter how hard we have tried, its impossible to make friends unless you were born here or come from Canberra. And property prices here are very inflated for what you get, moreso considering how bushfire prone the whole area is.
We have a nice new art centre and leisure centre which has helped to rejuvenate the area. Good fish and chips at The Boatshed btw and some other nice eateries. Botanic Gardens are worth a visit. Avoid the shopping centre in town, its bogan central
