"It's like going back in time"

Nice place to visit. But think long and hard about moving here. Overpriced property, 1950s mentality of locals, constant traffic jam in town (bypass won't be built for another 30 years), and little attempts to integrate the local indigenous people into the community, very much a them and us attitude

"Moving here has been a BIG mistake"

We are a family of 4. We moved to Moruya from Canberra 2.5 years ago. It has been a big mistake. We chose here since we used to holiday not far from Moruya in the summer. But living here is a different story. Small country town mentality, but what has shocked us is the animosity and disdain that locals here have towards Canberrans. All they do is criticise us but seem to forget that without Canberran tourist money this little town probably wouldn't exist. My kids have had problems settling into the local school, bullying is rife and treated as normal behaviour. We plan to move back to the ACT in the next 6 months

On a positive note, the Tuesday afternoon local farmers market is worth a visit. And the Thai restaurant is pretty good too

"Moruya - Perfect place to visit."

Moruya is on the banks of the Moruya River on the south coast of NSW about a twenty minute drive from Batemans bay. Moruya is the administrative centre for the Eurobodalla Shire and houses council and government offices, the Moruya College of TAFE. There are many historical building in the town and the coast is only 10 km to the east. This town has all the amenities you would expect such as caravan parks, motels and guesthouse, good shopping and many sporting pastime to choose from such as golf, tennis and bowls. There is a heated swimming pool and the fishing either in the river or at the heads is good. There are a number of beachside towns to visit as well as inland pursuits such as exploring the Deua National Park.
