I have been living in Derrimut for a few years and never had any issues. The council is continuing to maintain its parks at a high level. I walk every day and late at night and it's peaceful. The CBD by car is less than 15 minutes drive and Altona beach is a short drive away. The general area has improved over the last few years and local police hardly get jobs here compared to some of the other new areas out west. I am very happy to have moved here compared to a very busy and overcrowded Caroline Springs. Great area to bring up a family, there is heaps of small parks all over Derrimut that have kids playgrounds etc. The local residents are nice and always happy to say hello when walking in the area. Most afternoons/nights when the weather is good tons of people will be out walking or training in the area especially around Windsor Blvd. You know an area is good when you see the lifestyle locals can enjoy whilst not having to worry about crime/danger. Overall it's safe, quiet, peaceful and well maintained
