Morningside

""A Noisy Paradise""

Great being less than 10 minutes to CBD & closer to city by car than Bulimba, with great public transport, and excellent access to the Gateway. Less than 1km to Oxford St, and considerably cheaper than Bulimba, Balmoral and Hawthorne. However, that's where the pluses end. Noisy freight trains during the early morning hours. Worse, much of Morningside is either under or very close to the main flight path. As Brisbane airport has no nighttime curfew, that often means flights (including large international aircraft) in the early hours of the morning, eg 1-3am. Overhead flights then start again with a vengeance at 6am daily, with air traffic avoiding the more exclusive suburbs at noise-sensitive hours. Local MP Kevin Rudd was very vocal on the issue, but in recent times appears to have given up. However, If you can put up with the relentless noise - Morningside represents great value given proximity to CBD, public transport, and neighboring exclusive suburbs such as Balmoral, Hawthorne and Bulimba

Great for

  • 5km to CBD

Not great for

  • Parts don't have broadband cable, yet inner city suburb!
  • Noisy freight trains from 3 to 5am most days

Who lives here?
