Beenleigh

"Good Spot to start out"

Have lived in Beenleigh for 5 years and while there has been a couple of hickups with noise from neighbors early on over the last couple of years things have really quietened up. There has allways been an enviable neighborhood spirit in Beenleigh with friendly locals on the whole. Beenleigh enjoys a steady appreciation of house prices, no real boom but also no real busts either just a steady climb. Downsides are no night life but situated half hour to Gold coast or Brisbane that takes care of that.Fresh fruit and vegetables are sorely lacking in Beenleigh and requires traveling outside the general area to source but having a lower than average mortgage more than makes up for this. We have the Hyperdome 10 minutes down the road to take care of most needs on the shopping front. Logan Hospital is 10 minutes drive away and many private hospitals 20-40 minutes away. Beenleigh has coped a bad rap over the years (usually from people who have never lived in the area) but in my opinion feels like its changing as new young families move in and buy. If Theme parks are your thing then we have Movie World, Wet and Wild, Dreamworld all around 20 minutes away. If you love the "Mountains" then Mt Tambourine is a nice half hour drive away with all that gallery drive has to offer, just the thing to do on a hot day. To date while its had its moments I have not regretted moving to Beenleigh and plan to stay around for a while yet.

Added 24th June 2012. Just an update. While disappointed with increases of living expenses (read rates and water). Still happy here. Neighborhood still nice and quiet. Enjoying having just about everything needed close by including cheaper suburbs close by (boy there are some cheap deals to be had) Loving having Jacobs well 20 mins away for launching the boat and having the broadwater at my fingertips. Beenleigh is allowing me to pay the mortgage off pretty quick while allowing me access to decent paid job. Will be happy to hang here for a while yet.
