Devon Meadows

"Could not be happier with the move, even 4 years later!!!!"

We moved here 4 years ago, to have space for the kids and peace and quiet. Like it use to be when we were growing up. I have put my children in Devon Meadows Primary School and I could not be happier with the school.

City of Casey vs Frankston City Council which is where we originated, from you cannot compare. I would rather pay a little more in rates with Casey as there is never any graffiti, the area is well maintained, and you can call and speak to the council about everything and anything.

We moved from Carrum Downs more for a better quality of life for our young children and have not looked back, and I cannot rave enough about the area.

20 minutes to Frankston, 15 to Fountain Gate and only 5 minutes to Cranbourne for all the facilities and amenities that the City of Casey has to offer.

I cant stop raving about Devon Meadows.

Great for

  • Green and peace and quiet
  • Bangholme has now been developed, so hopefully this is the next spot for people to go who want a little space

Not great for

  • A little longer to the M1

"We could never go back to 'the burbs'"

We came from a highly congested area with graffitti, burn outs and extremely average area. We were a little hesitant as to what to expect. WELL...

We absolutely love it here we are on 1/2 acre which is fantastic as we have children, the neighbours are lovely and traffic congestion is at a minimum. Devon Meadows still has that country feel with being extremely close to amenities (Cranbourne, Tooradin, Fountain Gate, and the Mornington Peninsula).

We LOVE LOVE LOVE it and would recommend it to EVERYONE!!!

Great for

  • Quiet and Peaceful
  • Larger land lots
  • No graffitti and littering

Not great for

  • Its and extra 10-15 minutes to get into the City
  • No supermarket at arms reach, but this is just something that I am use to and will have to get use to

Carrum Downs

"Use to be a fantastic and affordable place to live..."

We have lived in Carrum Downs for over 15 years. What use to be a fantastic and affordable place to live in the past 5 years has gone severely down hill. I think that this could be attributed to an appalling council and no real police presence, and now there is high density living that we can blame on the council who allow multiple units into any available space which means more cars and people on the road. Hopefully the new police station will change a lot of this but it will take time.

Just about everyone we know that lives in Carrum Downs and has done for years is now trying to get out.

There are teenagers out at all times - morning noon and night, where are their parents? There are always 'burn outs' and hoons screaming past where children walk (this goes on from Thursday through to Sunday) and graffiti everywhere, it is easier to remove it yourself than wait for the council to make an appearance. Again I think a lot of it comes down to the high density living that the council has allowed.

We cannot wait to leave the area which is a shame because for the first 10 years it was fantastic, and we were looking forward to raising our family in an affordable place. Now we have sold and cannot wait to get out of 'da ghetto' which is what someone graffiti'd onto the Carrum Downs sign. Unfortunately I have had to go back to work part-time for us to be able to leave this area and move elsewhere. I would not recommend living in a Frankston City Council suburb, even if it is close to the beach.
