Blacktown has great shops and restaurants but you will find trouble out and about particularly near the station. So be on your guard.
Otherwise a pretty good suburb.

Warrawong is great for the shops and eating out. It is close to both Wollongong and Shellharbour.
The main strip is sad looking though but the plaza is nice.
The rent is high for what you get with boomer landlords not fixing their property.
Locals varied like many places the good and the bad. Unfortunately there is a high crime rate. And people struggling with addiction issues but lack of services.

Glenwood has a nice village feel to it. It is close to public transport and the station making it easy to get around.
Rent is high as are housing prices.
It is close to many schools and shopping centres.
Overall for western Sydney it’s a great suburb. Quiet and peaceful.

I’ve lived in Sydney my entire life and moved to Wollongong 4.5 years ago for a sea change.

At first I liked it but it’s become increasingly like Sydney in the cbd and hard to get parking.
That’s reason I left Sydney not to see more high rises with little parking going up.
A lot of businesses unfortunately went under with covid but even then you walk down the main strip and it’s pretty sad looking and feeling.
The beach’s are nice. But some of the locals are very small minded.
