If you have been there 15+ years you will hate it. If you have been there less than that you will like it perhaps even love it. Do not move to Drouin from Melbourne expecting the area to have the infrastructure to keep up with the growing population. If you live on south east side there's basically one road to get to any shops . I was told by someone from suburban Melbourne that the traffic on Main Street during school drop off and pick up times was worse than daytime Melbourne traffic. I used to avoid going down the street during those times if possible and other people I knew would do the same.
There's a mural on a walkway of a guy walking his dingos; a regular seen about the place when Drouin still used to have a country town feel. It doesn't feel like that anymore.
Yes it has basic shops, good schools, nice parks etc but if you're looking for peace and quiet do not move to Drouin. Glad I don't live there anymore!
