Craigie

"The place to start a family"

We have just hit 10 years as residents of craigie and could not feel more at home. We purchased the property in our early 20's for the following reasons . . close to beach, 5 to 10 mins to shopping and nightlife at hillarys marina, whitfords shopping centre, joondalup city centre, easy access to freeways and bus and train transport for easy access to the city and work. Plus we got a huge block for a great price that we hoped would either be a good long term investment or allow the opportunity for development down the track. . . .and boy where we right! Like most of Perth Craigie has been a fantastic investment in the long term plus unlike most other suburbs in Perth we really didn't see a big down turn in price over the recent GFC.
We are now in our early 30's and have a young family and the suburb continues to meet our needs with a brand new public primary school and a catholic primary, awesome craigie leisure centre, brand new bulk billing medical/dentist centre and fantastic chemist and mini post office, parks where everyone says hello and for a local meal out the craigie tavern.
We have close enough relationships with our neighbours that we can ask them to collect our mail while we are away etc but large enough blocks (we are on 800sqm plus) that we do not feel like we are living in their pockets like you do in some of the newer suburbs.
Plus by mid 2013 the old craigie high school site will also be released as a new housing development. We think the next wave of growth will hit Craigie then and instead of renovating people will start demolishing and building brand new which will give a whole new sparkle to Craigie.
