"Glen Innes a positive experience for us"

My wife and I bought a property in Glen Innes three years ago now. Our experience with the town has been generally positive. The neighbours are friendly and look out for us and our property if we are away. The locals are welcoming and friendly. The climate is wonderful, and the life style very laid-back and enjoyable. Easy access to national parks, fishing spots and gem fossiking.

It is a small town of just over 6000 people, but has adequate shopping and dining out options for us. Property prices are very affordable, and good rentals seem to be in demand.

We are at retirement age and so are not looking for work in the area, I think it would be a bit short sighted to move in and expect to find "your kind" of work here in the short term. However, I believe hospitality and service industry jobs are on the increase.

School kids seem well catered for. Not too many options for youth around town, so there is an element of anti-social behaviour apparent at times.

I recommend the town. However, don't expect all the retail, employment and medical facilities found in larger centres.
