Sunnybank

"The place is very unsafe, people are not nice, the food is horrible."

The place is very unsafe, my house got robbed a few times and my car got broken into many times. Too many people from different background that don't want to get along and want to live their way only.

Not great for

  • Too many people and crowded
  • Too noisey and busy
  • Mains Road can get very busy in peak hour
  • No real sense of community
  • Lots of young kids hanging out
  • No parking
  • Too many drug dealers and gangsters

Totally agree. Currently living in this area but considering moving to toowong. I moved to this suburb because of its lower rental costs but you get what you pay for. People are rude, too many minorities and marginalised groups, too far from city, cars rarely give way to pedestrians. In summary, simply horrible.

yes i agree, junkie scum and way to busy. used to be a nice area once upon a time.

It's a busy place because people like it. House rubbery exist because people at Sunnybank have lots of cash money. There are 1000s of carparks here, yet full? That means we're on business. And literally 100s of food providers are at Sunnybank with a great price. You can order the old fish n chips if you don't like them.

Sunnybank and alot of student accom areas are now definitely ghetto and v unsafe. Use to be different!! Now it's awful, people spitting on the street. Rubbish and unkempt lawns and gardens. Trees cut down but not removed, so a feast for termites!!

The people commented Sunnybank is horrible place people is rude or food is horrible who must be tenant, havent live in Sunnybak for long and couldnt fit in Sunnybank community. And they have no idea about Sunnybank at all!
My house in the heart of Sunnybank and I have been living here for 15 years. Im very proud to be a sunnybanker and I have everything I need here.
Sunnybank is a rising star suburb in either business and education and becomes a real China town. And the house price keep going up in Sunnybank must have good reasons. A good example- MacGregor State School is the top primary school in QLD and parents try everything they could just to get their kids in this school.

bellab 14. I am glad that you and other people like you like Sunnybank . As an investor and looking up Free Property Profile on the web shows that the houses performed below average and the capital growth over 10 yrs didn't perform well. The school at MacGregor did perform above average but when you look up My School on the web about SunnyBank State high School is scored the same as Woodridge state high school. The restuarants in SunnyBank came 2nd in QLD for food poisoning. Check Queensland Health Site. When a suburb is rated they also look at employment status.English is the language of employment. In Sunnybank about 30% of people have poor english and are under 60yrs of age which means they will struggle to get a job. There is a large number of students that live in rentals that are classed as low income . The suburb is classed as retailers (insecure and low income). The suburb is a sinking ship! .Lately SunnyBank and Sunnybank Hills has had a bad reputation in regards to COVID. Check Qld Health site on the web. Sunnybank is a Suburb in QLD. It is not a COUNTRY. In QLD we have Standards .That is why people complain about Sunnybank! and the surrounding Suburbs. You need to look beyond your nose and look at the future .I drove past Market Square and saw the new green constuction. It is a white elephant .The bulding had a large number of vacancies.

The quick jumping into conclusion of Sunnybank is sinking ship above is an absolute nonsense, not to mention that $40 million redevelopment in market square and the building just completed, which adds on an additional 7,911 sqm of retail space and 304 car parking spaces. Yuan's group won't be dumb enough to keep developing and spent fortune in Sunnybank if it is a sinking ship. Ha what a joke! My house in Sunnybank purchased of low $400K ten years ago, after a bit renovations and guess what? My house is valued at 1.2 Mil by Westpac a couple of years ago due to our refinance. Of course house market goes up and downs especially during COVID but it not only happens in Sunnybank! Another fact is I do have people/agent call and knock on my door offering to buy my house from time to time. And I don't know why people doing this if it is sinking ship??
MacGregor State School is top 10 school in QLD not only in public school but also include private schools. Not only in academic, but also in performing arts and sports! Anyone realize Sunnybank has very strong Rugby Club with great facilities? Sunnybank dragons? Check it out!
Maybe Sunnybank State High is not top high school, but lots of MacGregor State School graduates are not necessary to go to local high school but go to GPS schools, Brisbane State High, QA, Mains field etc and many students got various scholarships, academic, sports, arts....
Why don't you say there is no top University in Sunnybank and it is not good enough? You probably forget to mention Sunnybank Private Hospital, QEii hospital, Griffith University Nathan Campus, Mt Gravatt Campus, Garden City Shopping Centre are only arm length from Sunnybank? It is only 12 minutes drive to CBD via M3?
Regards to COVID cases, anyone who has brain would think, being curious and wondering why those people come to Sunnybank? What attracts them? Why don't they go to Rocklea, Salisbury instead? Aha, who can resists hundreds of choices of yummy foods, restaurants and shopping?
Anyway, if people who can't fit in Sunnybank culture and community and being sour about it please don't buy house or live in Sunnybank.

bella 14. For people who do not know Brisbane ,you could be talking about suburbs in Logan. They have everything what you have mentioned above eg hospitals ,shopping centre ,restuarants etc. MacGregor school is in Macgregor. QE2 hospital is in Coopers Plains. Griffith university is in Nathen and Garden city is at Mt Gravatt. I am talking about Sunnybank.I am stating what is on the web . Look up FreeProperty Profile on all of the suburbs I have mentioned .They are doing well except SunnyBank. 99% of your restuarants are oriental asian. I have eaten at Sunnybank. It attracts oriental asians and hardly any other nationalities .There is no variety or diversity . I look for suburbs where there is intergration of nationalities. Look what had happened to West End over 30yrs. I bought a house ,renovated it and it is worth over 3 million. Their restuarants caters everybodys tastes. it has an upmarket appearance. It hasn't got the smell of burnt garlic or old oil. My Father owned a farm at Robertson and subdivided a large area . I grew up in that area.I know Sunnybank very ,very well. What the people on this site are saying is true.I am glad you love this area but it is a suburb that dosnt have a good vibe.In my eyes this is a bad investment.

bellab14

You did not even read properly! Please be aware I never said on my comments above that QEII hospital Griffith Uni Garden City etc. are in Sunnybank. My original words are " .....are only arm length from Sunnybank" I am not sure how much you know about Sunnybank, especially MacGregor State School. I have three kids attending this school, the fact is Sunnybank is catchment area of MacGregor State School. I have two investment houses in MacGregor Suburb. Unfortunately my tenant's kids couldn't go to MSS due to they are not in the catchment of MacGregor State School... Obviously it is not all about which suburb MacGregor State School is in but is about to look into the fact.
I accept there are always suburbs out there better than Sunnybank for investment since the property price in Sunnybank is already pretty high. However, your comments about Sunnybank is sinking ship, attacking Sunnybank with COVID cases in order to make people believe Sunnybank is horrible place is very aggressive, untruthful and unacceptable.
