Queenstown

"People from interstate treated badly"

Unwelcome by most locals, constant heavy rain, very poor tv reception even with antennae, no optus, water is brown, air smells mouldy/damp all the time, lots of crime - threatened when asked neighbour not to park on my lawn, had house damaged by vandals running trailer down the street for fun, broken into and goods stolen, gang of young people stealing from shop - only there 3 months, only IGA (very expensive), lack of good tradesmen, many home woodfires - we all suffered from respiratory complaints, including the animals. Vet said it was common in people not used to the smoke/who have asthma. Nothing to do except the pub. No jobs.

We have Optus and the reception is great. Queenstown has some of the most pure air on the West Coast and yes the winters are cold and rainy but the surrounding mountains covered with snow and areas to take the kids 15 minutes from town make the winters worth it.
There are always jobs for those who are actually looking. Moved here, 1 month later have a job.
I will agree that the IGA are expensive we have gotten around this by shopping Amazon pantry.

Hi I'm really interested in this comment as it's the only one that I've seen mention a Vet! I'm aware that there seems to be a one woman show running a vet in Queenstown but I wonder, what happens in an emergency? Is it a case of a two plus hour drive to an emergency Vet? Anyone know? Thanks all.
