"Best for families or country lovers"
Unfortunately, I was only able to stay in Tamworth for four months before making the decision to leave. As a single, professional young female with no children I found it very difficult to create a social circle, and the high level of the crime completely ruined the experience for me. Job prospects are mediocre to poor for professionals unless you're in the health industry.
Not great for
- Crime
Who lives here?
- Families with kids
- Tourists
- Country Lovers
Agreed, is a very closed off community. I had some lovely interactions with the elderly folk in day to day travels, passing them and say "G'day", but other than that I find them fairly rude. Crime is on the rise, yes. And my sights are set on moving to back to Brissy after 4 years here.
Crime mostly break and entering. There are quite a lot of domestic violence type crime, I'm guessing these are the same losers who break and enter as well. Most of the crimes occur in the West and South Tamworth where the lower socio-economics located.
Wow Stereotyping much Mr Im Perfect? DV and break and enter happen in every type of family, not just with housos. Have some respect and stop tainting us all with the same brush!
Recommend to spend atleast one year at a place and then decide if you wish to stay or leave. Tamworth is a beautiful town with few tiny issues like any other place in the world.
There's a "schoolyard mentality" amongst the adults of the town. They're prone to 'ganging up' and targeting newcomers. Very immature people. Heard stories, including my own, of bullying in professional workplace settings. People leave the town because of it. Power struggles over petty things among some locals. They're very judgmental and prone to gossip and rumours. They really should take a long hard look at themselves first.
Tell me more about the crime?
