Dandenong

"A small town with huge potential"

Went to Dandenong for the first time in years the other day, and i was blown away with the development i saw. Some wasn't so great, but some was, especially those modern high rise buildings in the heart of the CBD.It's not the concrete wasteland i once knew in the 90s, is almost transformed and completely unrecognisable. While Dandenong still has a long way to go, things are progressing well, with the city centre having heaps of developments going on. Brand new Library & places just to hang out with friends and family, this is a city with huge potential!!

I'd like to see more developments from private investors, rather than all these council building going up, would be nice to see a Telstra or similar company's head office come to Dandenong, would great a buzz and more employment. Just hoping there's enough employment in the area, so I don't have drive to the city for work everyday, instead drive down the road to Dandenong CBD to work, cut my travel cost by 90%!!

Can't wait to see more development from the council and private investors to come to Dandenong, rather exciting seeing an old run down town being freshen up and rejuvenated. It's a long time before I'll be inviting a girl out to dinner in Dandenong, but one day in the near future it looks possible. Would be nice to go there to watch a movie and then grab some food afterwards at a new restaurant in Dandenong.

It's only a matter of time where rent becomes to high and pushes out the lower socio economic people to move away from the city into other suburbs. Which will reduce crime and make the place more freiendly and safer to live and work in. I can't wait to see how things turn out, and it's definitely i place i'm considering to move to once the city is more developed. I always like to drive down to Dandenong once every couple months to see what has changed, its very exciting and overwhelming to see so much improvements. Dandenong has a very bright future ahead.

Great for

  • Bright Future
  • Multi-cultured and variety
  • Great value for money (still)
  • Shopping
  • Unrivalled infrastructure
  • Great rental prices
  • Benefit in high house prices due to improvements of CBD
  • Becoming a place where a car is not needed, everything at your footstep.

Not great for

  • Bad reputation (still)
  • Lack of entertainment
  • Currently undergoing a lot of construction work
  • Long term planning, going to be 10-15 years before being completed. Still needs more apartments and Education around the city area to make the night time feel more safer.
  • Very busy while construction work commences.
  • Alot of vacant land waiting to be developed on near the Train station, for a new University to be put in Dandenong.
