Hi I was just looking at creswick as it looks like a nice country town not too far from Daylesford or Ballarat I was wondering is it really that bad, was excited about maybe moving there until I read your comment, thanks

Oh get a grip. Its a lovely town. Full of lovely generous people. The above person has some kind of personal gripe or vendetta and an an axe to grind. She's full of bile and resentment. Her problem. Its a great place to live!

Creswick is an awesome place to live. It's quiet and peaceful. It's not too far from ballarat as it's only a 15 minute drive but that's the right amount of space to have from ballarat.

We moved to Creswick a little over a year ago and have had only good things surround us. The people are friendly and helpful. My husband and I both volunteer in the community with Hepburn Health and Neighbourhood House and we are active with U3A. It's unfortunate the person above had such a bad experience, but I have lived on 3 continents and I find that you generally get back what you give. The only reason I would give Creswick a bad review would be to keep it small and keep folks who have personal agendas out!

Well I hope no one has the same experience from Creswick as myself - this was my concern and was why I posted. My opinion was based on both my experience and the experience of many others - You hear the disgusting stories. The attitude and propensity toward aggression and threats of violence has been uniquely a Creswick experience for me and others. Does make you think whether there is an environmental reason - like whether the above average contamination of arsenic in local people, an end product from gold mining days, has had some effect on how people operate. My opinion still stands and is not laced with personal gain of any sort. I am not hoping to paint a false picture of Creswick so that my property sells at a higher price, or I get some other kick-back in attempting to 'market' Creswick to the unsuspecting. Some have mentioned the forest and bush - well the most photogenic place WAS a natural rock waterfall that was horribly replaced with a unsightly flat concrete wall/dam and the best mountain biking areas were destroyed when the forest was clear-felled. What natural bush exists is seriously dilapidated. Also, there is a real lack of democracy in the town - the only local news will not print anything it deems as 'political', council members are 'elected' from being unopposed and many of the power people and professionals do not live in town, but come from Daylesford or Ballarat...and also, most strangely, local 'community' groups are set up, run and dominated by individuals who use them to shockingly dictate an arrogant will onto others and are completely unable to hear or listen to anybody. No...you WON'T love it!

Totally agree. This person is so wrong. I am also in U3A rebeccacam12. We may meet one day at some kind of event.

A pity this person has had such a bad experience. We moved up from Melbourne 3 years ago and immersed ourselves in the community, finding it a friendly place, central to a lot of other friendly places. Good health care, education, shopping and eating out. I hope others will not be put off by these negative comments. Give it a go...You'll love it!

I moved here around seven years ago and agree with all the positive things said by others here about Creswick. I love it here. There are a few bossy people but they are everywhere and those bossy people also keep some of our many groups going. I joined a few and have left one for personality clash related reasons but that's ok. That person is still a good person in my eyes. We just didn't match - happens everywhere. The other groups I am still involved with and I look forward to adding more when time permits. Summers are hot but Lake George is great. Winters are cold and wet but also misty and beautiful and there is always beanies and warmth to be found. My Creswick favourites are crystal clear starry night skies, bird filled dawns across the hills, lovely locals with a nice mix of friendliness and helpfulness without being invasive, the peace and quiet, Creswick market and the proximity of the town to Ballarat, Clunes (Bookfair) and to Daylesford and other small Hepburn Shire small towns. Love it.
