"A Great Place to Live....but"
We have lived in Langwarrin for around 15 years on both sides of Frankston - Cranbourne Road. This area has some great assets including parks, shopping centers, medical facilities and proximity to the greater Mornington Peninsula with all of its attractions such as beaches, wineries and restaurants. Being a boatie I love tha fact that we are close to both bays. The people are friendly and there is a huge number of young families which gives the place a nice feel. We have a nice blend of rural and suburban life style and there is still a bit of a village feel to the place despite the huge growth that has been happening. The area is still very affordable. We do however lack dining out options in the area and only have the one pub (as good as it is). We need to face facts though. We do have a problem with graffiti and vandalism and the volume ebbs and flows generally around school holidays. I personally hate graffiti and make a point of constantly pushing the issue with Frankston Council and local members. The fact is that nothing will be done about it unless residents get off their butts and lobby Council and others to get tough on the half wits that do it. Report it the minute that you see it and hold Frankston Council accountable to get it removed faster than they usually do. Unfortunately the worst thing about Langwarrin is the Frankston Council because they treat Langwarrin as a poor second cousin and generally treat the residents with a fair dose of contempt. They have a view that Langwarrin is ok for industrial development, particularly along the McLellan Road precinct and in the green wedge area. Residents need to be watchful of some of their most recent decisions regarding Langwarrin and make a point of getting involved with local councilors to keep them on their game. Having said all of that this is a great place to live and we will not be moving until we are carried out.
