Wentworth Point

"Wentworth Point and Inadequate Free Parking Facilities"

I was a recent tenant in a Share Accomodation / 2 Bed Unit in Wentworth Point.

My gripe with this place is the lack of town planning by Parramatta Council in providing enough resident car parking.
I lived there between late November 2017 and February 2018 and was fined 6 times in total.

5 times on Verona St where I admit my car was illegally parked,
1 times on Nuvolari Place where I moved it to after going down

The problem here is that when I come home of an evening from work I feel that a residential development should provide
adequate parking spots for its residents to park without any hinderance from Local Council Parking Rangers
These Rangers who target the area are simply raising revenue in an area that is target rich because of the deliberate and inadequate parking facilities.

My employment is that I'm a ride share vehicle provider and as such I'm out driving in the early hrs of the morning or evening.

I decided to contest these parking fines based on the fact that there is limited parking facilities and when I did move my vehicle
to Nuvolari Place I was fined yet again. This 6th fine I find grossly unfair as I have tried to relocate my vehicle to what I would consider
a legitimate parking space (and what others would most probably agree as being a legitimate parking space) and I am fined yet again.

In the end and for other reasons I moved out of the area. The idea of getting a 2 bed lease of my own was not an option as
trying to sublet a second bedroom with inadequate parking facilities was on 2 points a no go.
(1) Why would I put someone else through the same problem as detailed.
(2) Why would I take the risk of taking on a lease where I might have problems getting a tenant to move in

So I proceed to Burwood Court yesterday to discuss this unfair situation with the Magistrate.
My fines were 5 @ $257.00 and 1 @ $110.00 which has a total of $1395.00

I get my parking fines decreased to $50.00 each but then receive Court Costs of $164.00 " EACH "

Net result is:

6 x $164.00 + $350.00 = $1334.00

$1395.00 - $1334.00 = $ 61.00

The Magistrate effectively robbed the (NSW Police Force) who issued the tickets and kept most of the money for the courts in what is known as Courts Costs.

I will be taking this matter further however I would suggest anyone wanting to buy a unit in this area with inadequate parking facilities
think twice as it could be a very bad investment.

Wentworth Point is a great suburb but on this point alone it gets a 1 star rating.

It is not anyones fault that you are illegally parking. Wentworth Point was designed to be a high density, vibrant and carless community. You should not have illegally parked! I hate it when idiots like you jam the driveway and cause an accident by turning a 2 way lane into a one way lane. Thank god you moved out!

Hi Catherine
Thanks for your response.
Firstly, where would you then like me to park ?
Should people who are leasing a unit here put in there add,
" if you have a car do not apply "
Secondly, who signed off on it to be a car less community ?
Are there living in reality or off in a completely different world that is selfish and only thinks of themselves and stuff everyone else attitude.
Don't use the word community in a sentence when you don't want to know it's true meaning !
Thirdly, if you can't drive a car down a wide lane like Verona Drive when cars were parked in it then I suggest you should seek driver training. Failing that, go car less and be an advocate for your own words and rely on Sydneys Public Transport system, which if you analysed it more closely is hopeless. My suggestion hand in your Drivers Licence because driving down a lane way such as Verona Drv is SIMPLE and if an accidents happens it's your fault.
Furthermore, just about every st in Wentworth Point is one lane in width except for the main roads of course. Therefore your argument is weak !
In addition, if you pay registration and (business registration) then you should have a right to park your car on a street in a residential community.

Instead it's deliberate poor planning by developers and councils who design these circumstances to create bogus revenue streams. I myself am not here to support inadequate handing of Taxes by Local State and Federal Governments who cannot manage a budget in the first place.

Before moving in, you should have done some basic research and known that parking is limited. Seems you like to complain about things even though you are causing them....

Ive never had an issue with parking. Plenty of visitor parking in apartments, plenty of apartment dedicated car parks for people who rent or own - plentyyyy of street parking that only gets all filled up late at night and plenty of shopping centre parking thats free for hours.
