More and more low rent, violent, abusive no hopers moving into the area all the time, to the point where decent people don't feel safe in their own homes. The Merrys Lane area specifically is getting particularly bad.

Don't get me wrong, there are good people too. Many of them low income, but still decent, moral, law abiding folks, but sadly the influx of thieving, drunken, frequently abusive, violent and threatening young bogans, who have absolutely no respect for other people or their property, much less for the police, have turned many areas into something akin to the worst parts of Ravenswood.

If you are considering moving to this area then do research the property and exact area you are considering moving in to, and then if you are lucky enough to find a peaceful area, just pray that you don't get new neighbours of the drunken, loud and confrontational bogan variety after you move in (as happened with us), as sadly that seems to be getting all too commonplace.

We have personally lived here for over 5 years, and the last 2 years or so have seen things just going from bad to worse, with the past year or so especially bad. In fact it is so bad we are looking into affordable alternatives ourselves, hopefully ones far from here.

As much as I hate to say it, I could only really recommend the area these days to students and others who aren't looking for truly long term accomodation, but just need a place while they study, or as a stepping stone towards somewhere better.
