Redbank Plains

"Growing at an inconsistent rate"

Just moved here, public transport is non existent. Only one shopping mall which has the bare minimum of shops, great Country Fried Chicken outlet. There are no small convenience stores here in the plains or near Mount View which is where is a hassle as you have to drive to the mall or servo to get a milk. The number of house's going up is incredible but there is no supporting infrastructure to support the number of tenents/home owners/children in the area. There are some small kit set parks dotted around the area but nothing that could keep the kiddies entertained for very long. Haven't seen any snakes although the toads and frogs come out when it rains. The schools great although the paths along school road itself need to be widened/resealed. Street lighting is very minimal and the streets are quite narrow so if you have a few cars be prepared to park them on your lawn.
Overall its actually a very quiet suburb, the odd hoon on a Saturday night but still a safe area to bring up a family. Most neighbours keep to themselves. Bit of area for quads and dirt bikes if your that way inclined as well.

Great for

  • Walk to local shopping centres, short drive to Orion Shopping Centre

Not great for

  • Council needs to be called to mow council strips
  • Optus not available in the area

Who lives here?

  • Families with kids

Try out the new water park at Springfield - Robelle Domain I think it's called. My kids love it, we stayed for hours, they couldn't get enough!

Hello John, thought I'd let you know that in relation to shopping malls - they have started on a new on at the end of school road ETA is beginning next year to mid next year. On the corner of Allawoona & School Rd will be corner stores - not too sure when that's opening but have been told they were looking for specific stores to contract before opening. The Redbank Plains shops are handy for most of us on the south side of Redbank Plains Rd .. I know its not exactly handy but when the shops start opening up off School Road other wills come too. At some point School Road will meet up to the Brookwater Roundabout near the Police Station so it will become 'handier' to access that end too. Hope that helps :-)
