"Pretty well Crappy"

I lived in this street for 18 months it was reasonable at the start but the traffic becomes very noticeable and neighbors are very snobby for lower class scum, but that is what you come to expect from most of Ballarat!!! Its a pretty town just wrong area!

It is a great place to visit for a weekend or passing through for the night and occasionally you do meet a genuinly nice person there but once people realise hey your not a tourist and they dont know you, they dont want to, my flatmate and I first started frequenting a nice little cafe in Sturt Street, and for the first month it was jgood and the food was great then after that the food became horrid and barely edible and the coffee was so disgusting, and it wasnt just that place which we frequented, which raises the subject, "Why does Ballarat businesses only like tourists and not their locals"?

Yep, pretty town, nice to visit for the weekend, don't want to be out on the streets late on a Saturday night though...

It's such a shame you think that of Ballarat Kasey27. I've been there a bunch of times, however I have not 'lived' there.

Thanks for the heads up!

I have no idea Kasey27, but next time in town, ill have to do a little more investigating about local attitudes. As I have said previously though, I love Ballarat!

Its just a matter of finding the cool under populated bars/cafes - thankfully some Melbourne people who know how to do things right have set up here so things should improve. Ive been up here for 12 months now and have noticed improvement already - I recommend Bar Saloon Bar on Humphrey St south - a cool little acoustic music review without the local bogans hanging about - enjoy : ). As for food, the restaurants up here are fail stock standard Ramsy Street fare - but this has also begun to improve - as I mentioned, its about steering away from the tourist crapola and chancing upon a cool indi place. Same as anywhere really...

No its not the best place to live by far, I would'nt even say it was a nice place to live but its bareable if you have to live in the western suburbs.

"Low life street"

Well what can I say I lived there for about 9 months and it was hell, there is nothing there. The ground is sand so you can grow anything unless you have hundreds of dollars to grow one plant in the ground and the neighbors were just snobs and mistreated the animals. Nobody ever keeps the animals on a leash so the dogs are constantly barking at each other, one neighbors cat mates with every other cat in the street and then has the kittens in your backyard and unless you want the kittens you have to pay to get rid of them and the real estate agents up there will be nice to your face then screw you over majorly, Horsham by itself is a low down dirty town stay away!!!!

"Bush feel on the edge of the big smoke"

Its a nice tree lined street a little hilly and very cosy, we have a property which is large for a very reasonable price. Theres a lot of people who dont like Kurunjang but its changed a lot and most of the trouble has moved to Melton Sth so this area is really nice and quiet apart from one hoon who makes his name at about 5.30am when I am guessing he revs up and speeds to work but thats it no trouble at all!!!
