Waterloo

"Noise isn't worth it"

Waterloo must vary judging from the other reviews. We live in a unit near Lachlan St and the noise is terrible. The huge unit blocks echo and there is ALWAYS someone having a party at night, almost any night of the week. We're regularly kept up until 4am on weekends. It's worse than being in university. The traffic is really loud on Lachlan St as well with construction trucks in the early morning and hoon cars at night. It's also really hard to get anywhere via bus on weekends since the traffic is blocked up.

Otherwise it's quite a handy location with some good restaurants and a very nice walk to Surry Hills. I'd just be careful where you live in Waterloo, because it can be really really noisy. I have no doubt some people enjoy it but my area has been pretty terrible for us since we work 9-5.

Hi,
It must just be your building sound proofing... 11a Lachlan St is great. Can't hear a thing.

Must do. We're at 2 Lachlan - one side of the apartment faces the courtyard w/the cafe and restaurants, the other side faces Lachlan St. I've heard further up Lachlan is fine - lucky! :)

Ask your neighbours what their experience is like. If they say they have no noise problems you should speak with your strata company if you are an owner or your real estate/landlord of you are renting as the sound proofing might need to be fixed.

Oh I can hear my neighbors sneeze, so the whole building is built with very thin walls. Just renting - we have whole walls of glass so probably not much that can get done. I'll talk to the real estate though - thanks so much for the feedback. Good to know.

we live on the same side of the building as the person at number 2 lachlan (except we are at number 4) the air conditioning at Toyota is horrendous and goes 365 days a year. Also there is a loud high pitched whirring from machinery that goes 24/7. We hear no traffic but the rest of the noise means no doors or windows open most of the time
