Zillmere

"green"

I bought a brick house that is close to aspley/geebung borders, I made it as break-in safe as I could as I would in any suburb. Recently big widening works are going on around Murphy/Edison roads. Go over the train line to the east and there may be an element of unsafety but the pros outweigh the cons in this suburb. Why people state Taigum in their comments is a puzzle, Zillmere is all about Hypermarket/Chermside Shopping centre [coffee in cafes!!] /2 x hospitals/parks....green....parks/access to to the huge tranport hub on Hamilton/schools of various types [including special needs],vets/ small shops/ Home Makers Centre with everything.......I could go on. Seriously you can be at a tennis court, library or public pool in minutes.
However the crime....it does exist and in fact even Aspley/Carseldine have trouble from occupants of the caravan park and halfway house in the vacinity.
There are many places in our city where walking home from a station after dark is risky but the day to day living in Zillmere is easy for the average worker and families. "Old" Zillmere has some charming wood houses with decent gardens, so with the tunnels and public tranport available, this area is an unrecognised gem and worth considering.
