Manjimup

"Can be a great place to fully own your home if you can tolerate the Cons."

Manjimup has kept some of the good old fashioned Australian ways : For example, at the local pub, you can put your money on the bar and leave it there for the bar tenders to deduct the correct amount from that money everytime you have a drink. Nobody will touch your money. You never see that in the cities, except in the 70's when I migrated to Australia.

On the downside, no chemist at all after 1.00 PM on saturday all the way to Monday 9.00 AM. This applies for all towns around Manjimup unless you drive at least 200kms, return trip. Only two options for evening dining at a restaurant in Manjimup : Pub or Chinese and their hours are very tight.

Generally speaking , most people are friendly and easy to approach

Relative Proximity to total wilderness is a HUGE advantage. The Southern Ocean beaches are absolutely fantastic.

Very concerning if you have an enduring medical condition. There are, basically, no family GPs doctors available for new residents in Manjimup.

  • Easy access to other towns and sights in the SW

  • Can be difficult to secure a family doctor
  • 300 kms from Perth to get, for example, specialised medical treatment
  • No restaurants
