Short trip to Strathdale Village for retail therapy or go the whole hog into Bendigo or the many many other shopping precincts around Bendigo. Theres a retail centre near everyone here.

The best part about Newport is that theres no through traffic going from one suburb to another, the only traffic is people who need to be here coz theylive here, visiting,work need something in the area. Newport has been a sleepy little spot for many years and in the past few years younger ppl have discovered it and its proximity to the city and Williamstown. Willy is very expensive to buy into and shop but Newport gets the benefit of the attractions of Willy and the beaches without the high price tag. Most neighbors are very friendly and watch out for each other. Theres buses going in all directions from the station or Altona Gate, so getting around without a car is no problem.
