"Pacific Parade"
I lived in Dee Why for a year in 2011 and I honestly couldn't wait to move out of there when my lease was up. It's really sad but there's a lot of families living in those one and two bedroom flats. I lived in a one bedroom block and the majority of units had a couple with their child living in them. Below me there was a guy that was living with his parents and a small child. Next door was a block of two bedders and many had couples with two or three children living in them. I heard some awful domestic fights like I've never heard anywhere else and I hope I never hear again. Most of the people living there seemed pretty stressed and were always quick to point out that they were only living here until they could afford something better. Dee Why beach is beautiful but sadly it disappeared from April until September as even at the lowest tide you'd be lucky to have a strip of beach one metre deep along most of the beach. I'm not sure if this happens every year though? There is also a notable amount of violent crime there involving young guys. In the last week that I was living there, I went to grab something from Woolworths at 6pm on a weeknight and out the front of the store there was a young guy, attended to by paramedics, lying in a massive pool of his own blood. Anyway, I didn't live on the Northern Beaches long enough to understand why this has happened to Dee Why, but it surely has happened and I hope they figure out how to fix it.
Great for
- The beach!
Not great for
- Ghetto for people who can't afford decent housing on the Northern Beaches
- High level of violent crime involving young males
Im sorry you had this experience.
Its like a little village where you know your butcher, florist, Baker.
The beach is beautiful.
Maybe you just lived in the wrong apartment block as from your comments you couldnt possibly know how the whole area is & your information isnt supported by statistics.
