Bayswater

"Beautiful yet Affordable!"

When I and my wife started looking for houses to buy in 2014, we were so frustrated with underquoted ads and skyrocketing prices. Then we found Bayswater very affordable where we could find decent Houses on Large blocks. Initially, we were quite sceptical about the reason for it being comparatively cheap and I couldn't find any logical reason for it. Unable to afford any other suburb, we made up our mind and finally bought our first house here, in 2014! We've been very happy residents since then, which is almost 7 years now! The neighbours are very friendly and I mean it. I can't imagine renovating our house without genuine help and advice from our neighbours. Best of all, we love the greenery and native birds you get to watch every day! I personally love the wide footpath, unlike some suburbs which don't have it at all. We've got the Mountain High Shopping Centre, Coles, Woolies and Aldi for daily groceries. Also, you can find some of the best restaurants in the eastern suburbs. 'The Hatter and The Hare', 'Thai Tables' to name a few. We've had our first and only child in our stay here who is nearly 5 now. We come under Angliss (Upper FTG) Hospital which is a great Public Hospital. And btw, the newly built 'Knox Children & Family Centre' in Bayswater is simply stunning! As far as the schools, they are not bad, especially Bayswater, Bayswater South, and Bayswater West Primary schools are all pretty decent. However, we do not have the first-hand experience as our kid is not of school-age yet. Having said that, some of the best Private schools in Wantirna South and Ringwood are just 4-6 km from Bayswater! And commute to the city, for us, takes about 15 min walk or 3 min drive to the Bayswater station and 40 min travel to the City in Express service. Interestingly, we see the Protective Services Officers every day when we get off the train in the night which gives us a sense of security. Although one might think why they are there so frequently, we have never had any bad experience so far. And we arrive at Bayswater station every day anywhere between 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm! Nevertheless, this is purely our experience and thought worth sharing.
